Slow Cooker


BBQ Ribs

3 – 4 Pounds pork ribs, any style
¼ Cup Pork Rub (I used Durkee Grill Creations St. Louis Style)
¼ Cup brown sugar
1 Bottle BBQ sauce (I used Schnuck’s Kansas City Style)
1 Medium onion, chopped
2 Teaspoons minced garlic
2 Teaspoons Liquid Smoke

Preheat the broiler.

From the back of the ribs, remove the silver skin, a thin membrane that keeps the sauce from reaching the meat.

Mix the pork rub and brown sugar together, spread evenly over both sides of ribs. *    Broil each side of the ribs for 5 – 6 minutes about 3” from the broiler unit.  Remove and allow to cool enough to handle.

In a bowl, mix together BBQ sauce, onion, garlic and Liquid Smoke.  Pour a small amount in bottom of slow cooker.  

Cut each rack of ribs into individual ribs and place in slow cooker.  Pour remaining sauce over ribs.

Cook on low heat for 8 – 10 hours (longer for thicker ribs).
