Slow Cooker


Ultimate Oatmeal

1 ½ cups steel cut oats (Irish, Scottish or Pinhead)
2 cups milk
3 cups water
1 cup heavy cream or half and half
½ cup packed light brown sugar
4 tablespoons butter, melted
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 large apples, peeled, cored and finely chopped (or 1 cup dried apples)
½ cup raisins
½ cup dried cranberries or cherries

Grease slow cooker, add all ingredients to cooker and mix well.

Heat on low for 8 – 9 hours, overnight.

Stir well before serving.

Serve with butter, milk or cream, fruit (bananas, blueberries or strawberries) and chopped nuts (pecans, walnuts, slivered almonds).

Serves 10 - 12
